Cochlear Implant System
Cochlear implant system is also called artificial cochlea or electronic cochlea. It is an electronic device substituting human ear, helping adults and children with severe or profound hearing loss sense or recover the hearing. Here severe and profound hearing loss sufferers means those whose both ears have the sound threshold exceeding 90 dB hearing level, and who can not regain hearing by wearing hearing aid. Cochlear implant technology can be dated back to the1950s. After decades of development, especially after the emergence of biomedicine engineering and such high-techs, cochlear implant technology has advanced from lab research to clinical application, and become the only effective treatment for complete deafness sufferers to recover hearin.
